Christmas in July: The CrossFit Games
On July 22nd, the 2015 CrossFit Games will kick off at Hermosa Beach, California. What follows is three days of grueling workouts for men, women, masters, teams, and this year, a teen division. All days will be broadcast live on the CrossFit Games page, and many (especially on the last day) will be broadcast by ESPN.
If you're new to CrossFit, names like Rich Froning, Mat Fraser, Emily Bridgers, and Camille LeBlanc-Bazinet probably don't mean much to you. But just one day into the competition, and you'll know who they are and probably have a favorite athlete or two. And the athletes here will amaze you—their grit, determination, skill, and flat out athleticism is just awesome to watch.
What's the point of the Games? Well, they bill themselves as finding the "Fittest Man" and "Fittest Woman on Earth." And even the athletes themselves joke that the competition is to find the people who are the "best at exercising." If you haven't watched before, it will be unlike anything you've seen before. The workouts are comprised of many of the movements you perform at the box, but in insane weights and numbers that seem superhuman. Becase they are.
So watch! You can catch the games on the CrossFit Games website. Marvel at their strength, stamina, and abs. Be inspired, and then come hit the box with a renewed passion!
